Gibb Coady commits to University of Wisconsin-River Falls

OKOTOKS, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are happy to announce that 2000-born forward Gibb Coady (Okotoks, AB) has committed to attend and play for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, members of the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

A local product of the Okotoks U18 AAA Oilers, Coady played three seasons for the Junior A squad, recording 37 points (14 goals, 23 assists) in 87 games, and serving as an alterate captain this past season. Previously, he led the U18 squad in scoring in 2017-18 with 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists) in 35 AMHL games.

Coady also contributed strongly in the one season in which his Oilers team was able to compete in playoffs, notching 7 points in 11 games in the team’s 2019 run to the AJHL South Final.

“Gibb showed tremendous resilience and dedication over his time with our organization,” said Oilers head coach and general manager Tyler Deis. “He had an immediate impact on our team as a local kid, and with more time would have done even more.

“As an organization, and for myself as a coach, we couldn’t be happier with him having the opportunity to continue to play at Wisconsin-River Falls.”

Coady is the twelfth player from the team’s 2020-21 roster committed to an NCAA or USports institution.
