Gord Susinski Hired as Canucks Head Scout

The Canucks are proud to announce that Gord Susinski has been hired as the team’s Head Scout.  Susinski has been involved in player evaluation for many years in both Prince George and in the Calgary area has been scouting for the Canucks over the past season.

Having the chance to see his own son play through the ranks at the bantam level and on to midget, Susinski still reminds him to “use your head, play with your heart and everything else will fall into place”.  It’s those qualities that he looks for in players who want to make it to the Junior A level.

“I want to see those qualities and give those players the opportunity to play Junior A hockey and fulfill their goals.  My advice for the boys heading into the junior ranks today would be play your game, be yourself and have fun.”

Susinski and his team will be spending the winter in the region’s rinks searching for the next generation of Calgary players to be part of the Canucks.

Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager Craig Mohr goes to Fernie Ghostriders

The Canucks are also announcing that Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager Craig Mohr has taken the position of Head Coach and General Manager of the Fernie Ghostriders of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL).

He had previously held that position before coming home to Calgary and coaching with the Canucks over the past few seasons.  The team wishes him all the best and thanks him for his outstanding work with the team’s defense core and his humour on bus trips throughout Alberta.  Mohr will continue to scout for the Canucks.

The search for a new Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager has begun and interested parties are invited to send applications to Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Barrett.
