Young Calgary Mustangs making noise as season starts
By SCOTT FISHER ,Calgary Sun
The Calgary Mustangs got a small taste.
Now they want the full meal deal.
The local AJHL squad enjoyed some success last season. Finishing with a 28-31-1 record, the Mustangs went a league-best 8-2 to finish the regular season before bouncing the Olds Grizzlies from the opening round of the playoffs.
They lost to the powerhouse Okotoks Oilers in the second round, but Mustangs head coach David Haas said his squad is eager to make even more noise in 2011-12.
“We want to build off last year’s success,” Haas said. “We have a lot of speed and skill, and we’re a bit younger.”
