The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that Saints sophomore defenceman, Brandon Hickey, has committed to play for Boston University for the 2014-15 season. The BU Terriers are a member of the NCAA Div.1 Hockey East Conference.
Brandon is originally a product of the Leduc Midget AAA Oil Kings Program. Last season with the Saints, Brandon played in 55 games totaling 1 goal and 6 assists while adding 11 PIMS. So far this season, Brandon has more than doubled his offensive output with 4 goals, 12 assists and 22 PIMS. Brandon was selected to represent Canada on Team West at the World Junior A Challenge in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. In 4 games, Brandon had 1 assist and 2 PIMS to help secure a Bronze Medal for Team West.
“Brandon is a elite defenceman in our league and very deserving of the opportunity to continue his career at Boston University, another prestigious program in the NCAA,” said Saints Head Coach Jason McKee. “Brandon is an extremely good skater and very reliable in his own end. His heavy shot is an added asset while in the offensive zone. Brandon has a very bright future in the game, and we look forward to continuing to work with Brandon, until he transitions to Boston University next season.”
“I am extremely excited to continue my hockey and schooling at Boston University with the Terriers next season”, said Brandon Hickey. “I would like to thank my parents and family for all their support. Without them, I would not have been able to get to this point in my life. I would also like to thank my coaching staff, teammates, and the Spruce Grove Saints Organization. They have been nothing but supportive.”
The Saints organization would like to congratulate Brandon and his family on this step in his career and wish him continued success moving forward, both athletically and academically.
