Holloway Invited to U-18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup Selection Camp

Okotoks Oilers centre Dylan Holloway has been invited to Team Canada’s National Men’s U-18 Summer Camp July 28 to August 1.

Holloway, 16, is one of 44 players selected to try out for Canada Hlinka Gretzky Cup, which will showcase the top U-18 players from the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden & Switzerland.

Dylan just completed his rookie season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) where in 28 games he scored 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) and was named to the league’s South Division All-Rookie Team. In 15 playoff games, Holloway had seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) helping the Oilers reach the AJHL Championship for the first time in franchise history.

The U-18 camp will be the third international event Holloway has been selected to don the maple leaf.  He has had a handful of experience representing Canada, first winning a silver medal with Team Canada Red at the 2017 U-17 Challenge where he scored one goal in six games for Team Red.

Holloway followed up his U-17 experience, earning a spot on Team Canada West’s roster for the 2017 World Junior A Challenge where he scored three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in five games helping lead Canada West to a gold medal.

Oilers Head Coach & General Manager Tyler Deis says the U-18’s is another chance for Dylan to prove himself on the international stage. “We wish Dylan the best of luck at the selection camp and look forward to seeing him wear our country’s maple leaf once again this summer.”

Holloway is eligible for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and is committed to the CAA Division I University of Wisconsin Badgers and is the first Okotoks Oiler to ever try out for the U-18 roster.

The Hlinka Gretzky Cup goes August 6-11 in Red Deer & Edmonton, for more information on the tournament, follow the link here.
The Okotoks Oilers Organization would like to congratulate Dylan and the Holloway family on being selected to U-18 camp and wish him nothing but the best in his pursuit of representing Canada once again.
