Jaden Senkoe Commits to Mount Royal University

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce 20-year-old forward Jaden Senkoe has committed to Mount Royal University, who compete in the Canada West Division, within Canadian University Sports (U-Sport) for the upcoming season.

Senkoe spent his final year of junior hockey as a member of the Saints, after being acquired from the Trail Smoke Eaters of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) just after the start of the 2021-2022 season.

During his time in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with Spruce Grove, Senkoe compiled 10 goals and 37 points through 50 combined regular season and playoff games.

The 6’2”, 187-pound power forward from Westlock, Alberta was a strong veteran presence both on and off the ice this past season, leading the Saints to their third consecutive North Division Championship.

Mount Royal University, which is located just outside downtown Calgary, finished third in their division this past season, going 14-5-1.

Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk weighed in on Jaden heading to U-Sport, saying, “Jaden was a key impact player for us this past season, he played in every situation and was a huge part of us taking home the North Division title. It is very rewarding for myself and the organization to see Jaden continue his career with Mount Royal University.”

Saints Head Coach spoke highly of the veteran forward heading to post-secondary, saying, “Jaden played an integral role in our success last year as a team because of his versatility, consistency and skill level. More than that he is a team first person. I look forward to him continuing his success at Mount Royal University.”

An excited Senkoe spoke of his commitment, saying, “I’m so excited to continue my hockey career and get an amazing education at Mount Royal University. I would like to thank the Spruce Grove Saints for helping me get to this point, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, coaches, and management. I’m looking forward to hitting the ice in the fall.”

Senkoe joins Jacob Rochford (Western University), Bryan McAndrews (York University), Will Holland (Babson College), Cade Mason (Long Island University), Logan Acheson (Bemidji State), Caiden Gault (Ferris State), Jayden Davis (Notre Dame), Luigi Benincasa (Ferris State), Niko Jovanovic (Notre Dame), Liam Watkins (Nebraska-Omaha), Brett Pfoh (Bowling Green), Breck McKinley (Bowling Green) and Braden Virtue (Carleton University) as committed players to post-secondary education from this past season.

The entire Saints organization would like to congratulate Jaden and his family on his commitment and wish him the best of luck at the next level.
