JOEY MELO COMMITS TO NCAA DIV I ALASKA ANCHORAGE

2023-24 AJHL Rookie of the Year, Joey Melo, has accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Alaska Anchorage to play for the Seawolves. The program is led by third year Head Coach Matt Shasby. The Georgetown, ON, product had a record setting rookie year setting team highs in goals and points for first year players in the program. He compiled 43 points in 56 games including 22 goals, a Wolverines team record.

“We knew we had a special player and person with Joey the second we saw and talked to him,” stated Head Coach Shawn Martin. “Joey’s tenacious energy will make him a very good Division I player for Alaska, he is a pleasure to coach every day.”

Joey had this to say about his commitment, “I am very excited and honored to announce my commitment to the University of Alaska Anchorage. I would like to thank all my coaches, teammates, friends and especially my family that has helped me along the way, I cannot wait to get started.”
