The Olds Grizzlys are pleased to announce that 20-year-old defenseman Corbin Karl has committed to the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves for the 2011/2012 season.
Corbin has played a big part with the Grizzlys this season and his stellar play has been recognized by many. The leadership skills Corbin has shown on and off the ice has certainly helped him gain this opportunity. Corbin, who joined the Grizzlys in 2008/09, had his biggest offensive output this season with 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points. He was one of the top defensemen in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and this season was voted onto the first all-star team in the south division.
Coach Kevin Willison stated, “The short time that I have known Corbin he has certainly shown his leadership qualities. Through any kind of adversity, Corbin would be willingly to sacrifice himself for the benefit of his team. Playing multiple roles and always coming to the rink with a positive attitude and a great work ethic were traits that made Corbin a consistently positive leader.”
The Olds Grizzlys would like to thank Corbin for his commitment to the Olds Grizzlys program over the years and wish him continued success in his academic and athletic pursuits.
