Laderoute Commits to University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs

Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are proud to announce that 1997 born forward, Tanner Laderoute (Edmonton, AB) has committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Located in Duluth, Minnesota, the Bulldogs play in the NCAA’s National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) under 18 year Head Coach, Scott Sandelin. The Bulldogs have won four conference championships, participated in 11 NCAA tournaments, including five in the Frozen Four and one NCAA Championship in 2011.

Laderoute, 20, is in his 5th season in the AJHL where he leads the Oilers in scoring with 67 points (31 goals, 36 assists) in 49 games played including four power play goals and three game-winning goals.

This is Tanner’s third season with the Oilers where he’s dressed in 138 games, scoring 145 points (63 goals, 82 assists). Laderoute was acquired from the Sherwood Park Crusaders on December 1, 2015 where he played 75 games in the AJHL’s North Division scoring 31 points (8 goals, 24 assists).

In his time with the Oilers, Laderoute has climbed into the Oiler record books where he sits 4th in all-time points, 4th in goals & 6th in assists.  In his final year of Junior Hockey, Laderoute is excited to continue his career next season with the Bulldogs.

“It’s a dream come true to commit to a school like Duluth.  I am really excited to be going there next year,” he says. “They have an incredible program and are a great school.  I’d like to thank everyone that has helped me along the way, but especially my parents for the countless hours and money they put into my career! I wouldn’t be here without them.”

Laderoute is looking forward to competing against three of his current Oiler teammates since they will all be playing in the same conference vying for NCAA supremacy in the upcoming seasons:

“It will be a little weird playing against Carter (Huber), Jacob (Bernard-Docker) and Ben (Sanderson) in these next few years because of how good of friends we’ve become and being linemates for so long. But all in all, I’m really excited to continue my hockey career in Duluth.”

The Oilers would like to congratulate Tanner and his family on his achievement and to thank him for his team involvement both on and off the ice, as well as his dedication to our organization and our community.

Laderoute is the 7th current Oiler on the 2017-18 roster to commit to a NCAA Division I institution, as he joins Jacob Bernard-Docker (University of North Dakota), Nick Blankenburg (University of Michigan), Carter Huber (University of North Dakota), Dylan Holloway (University of Wisconsin), Ben Sanderson (Colorado College) and Austin Wong (Harvard University).
