Laplante, a 6’1″ 185 pound goalie, joined the Pontiacs for the 2008-2009 season. Playing in 23 games as a rookie, Laplante collected 13 wins and earned himself a spot in the 2008 CJHL Top Prospects Game. The 2009-2010 season showed continued growth. As the go to guy, Laplante appeared in 51 games collecting 24 wins, 3 shutouts, and 91.11 save percentage. At season’s end, Laplante was recognized as the Pontiacs Most Valuable Playing throughout the regular season, as well as Playoff MVP. This season, Laplante has made his stamp on the Pontiacs single-season and career record books. To date, his 26 wins and 7 shutouts are single season records. He has also set a new franchise standard for career wins (63) and shutouts (10).
Based in Schenectady, New York, the Union College Dutchmen play Division I in the NCAA’s Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference.
The Pontiacs would like to congratulate Julien and his family, and wish him much success at Union College.
