Lorenz invited to Canada’s National Under-18 Development Camp

OKOTOKS, AB (July 8, 2021) – Okotoks Oilers forward Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, AB) has been invited to Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team summer development camp, it was announced today.

The camp brings together 45 of the best under-18 players in the country, with Lorenz selected as one of 26 forwards who will compete in practices and intrasquad games.

It will run from July 25 to August 4 at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on the Tsuut’ina Nation.

Lorenz, 17, completed his first Junior A season this past year, dressing in seven games for the Oilers and recording two goals and one assist. Prior to that, he was the fourth-highest scoring U18 prep player in the CSSHL in 2019-20, recording 72 points (37 goals, 35 assists) in 35 games for the Edge School.

He is committed to the University of Denver of the NCAA.

Lorenz was the only AJHL or CJHL player selected to the camp, which would normally be used to select Canada’s entry into the Hlinka Gretzky Tournament, which Hockey Canada opted not to participate in this season.
