While there’s plenty on the line for players taking part in the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Showcase weekend, Sept. 27-29 given the scholarship opportunities that are up for grabs, there was also a lot at stake for the officials.
George McCorry, vice-president officials, for the AJHL, said during the early stages of the busy weekend in Spruce Grove that all the on-ice officials were assessed. And if they perform well there could be rewards for them down the road, similar to the carrot at the end of the stick for the players.
