LOZINSKI, KANERVA, MIEYETTE SELECTED AS AJHL WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Camrose Kodiaks forward Sam Lozinski.  With six points (3G, 3A) in two games played, Lozinski led the AJHL in scoring from November 4th-10th, 2024.

Sam Lozinski (Calgary, AB) scored a hat trick and recorded a career-high five-point game on November 8th as the Kodiaks defeated the visiting Olds Grizzlys 9-3.  He was recognized as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game for the Kodiaks.  On November 10th, Lozinski added his eighth assist of the season in a tight 3-2 win over the Drumheller Dragons.

Lozinski (2004) is a third year AJHL vet with 16 points (8G, 8A) in 18 games played and is tied with a league leading three game winning goals already this season.  Camrose sits first overall in the Viterra AJHL South Division and are without a regulation loss in their last seven games at 6-0-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).

Lloydminster Bobcats rookie Murray Kanerva is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week after recording his first two goals of the season and leading all defencemen in points through the week.

On November 6th, Kanerva (2006) was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game for a three-point performance, which included his first goal of the season and two assists in an 8-3 victory versus the Devon Xtreme.  The Bobcats entered a November 8th game against the North Division leading Grande Prairie Storm on a four-game win streak.  Kanerva (Calgary, AB) scored the first goal of the game but the Bobcats would eventually fall 4-3 to the Storm in a shootout.

For a second consecutive week, and the third time this season, Drumheller Dragons forward Ellis Mieyette is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week.  The 2006-born Dragon recorded two multi-point games in wins over opponents from the Viterra AJHL North Division.

Mieyette posted an assist on the opening goal of the November 6th home game versus the Whitecourt Wolverines and added a second assist in the 4-0 shutout.  On November 8th, Ellis recorded an assist on three of the four Dragons goals in a 4-1 final over the visiting Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

Mieyette (2006) leads all rookies with 26 points (5G, 21A) and is second in the AJHL Scoring Race.  He has compiled seven multi-point games this season.

In October, Ellis Mieyette was identified on the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.  The list is a compilation of draft-eligible prospects from all the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe.
