The Bonnyville PONTIACS are extremely excited to announce Lucas Thorne’s NCAA Division I commitment to the College of Holy Cross. The Holy Cross Crusaders are a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) and they play at the Hart Center located in Worcester, Massachusetts.
“Lucas THORNE leads the PONTIACS in scoring and has recorded 56 points in 34 games this season including 20 goals. Lucas is one of the smartest players away from the puck that I have ever coached. With the puck, he possesses outstanding vision and brings a committed work ethic to the rink each and every single day. He dedicates himself to be the best he can be and the way he carries himself like a pro is a great example to our younger players. Lucas’ commitment is well-deserved, and he has worked extremely hard for this. He is also an exceptional human being,” says Head Coach and General Manager Rick SWAN.
Since joining the PONTIACS in 2017/18, Lucas has made an immediate impact in our locker room and in our community and represents what a Bonnyville PONTIAC is all about. In 163 games, THORNE has recorded 140 points. THORNE was named to the AJHL All-North Rookie Team in 2017/18 and the AJHL All- Academic Team in 2018/19. Other awards received for THORNE (2017/18 and 2018/19) were Top Scorer, Top Defensive Forward, 3 Star and Most Improved Player.
“I could not have made it this far without the support of my family, friends and coaches. I am very excited to be a Crusader,” said THORNE.
Lucas THORNE becomes the 70th player to wear a PONTIAC uniform since 2013/14 to commit to play at the college/university level.
The Bonnyville PONTIACS, our fans and our community couldn’t be happier for Lucas’s commitment to the Holy Cross Crusaders where he’ll join former PONTIACS, and teammates Grayson CONSTABLE and Bobby YOUNG.
