Matter Commits to Michigan Tech

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are proud to announce that 2004-born forward Ryder Matter (Leduc, AB) has committed to Michigan Technological University.

The six-foot-one, 176-pound forward is currently in his second season with the Oil Barons after joining the team during the abbreviated COVID- 19 campaign where he amassed three goals and one assist in seven games.

“As a young player, Ryder has shown maturity beyond his years,” said Oil Barons Head Coach and General Manager Gord Thibodeau.   “As a coaching staff, we are thrilled with the work ethic and development he continues to show each day.”

Matter’s arrival to the NCAA Division I program at Michigan Tech will be determined at a later date.

The Oil Barons would like to congratulate Ryder and the Mater family on this accomplishment.
