Matthew Murray Earns USHL Goaltender of the Week Honours

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 9 of the 2016-17 season. Matthew Murray posted back-to-back shutouts to earn USHL Goaltender of the Week honors. Easton Brodzinski won his first weekly honor after his second consecutive trick, and Mario Ferraro won his first career weekly award finishing with a goal and two assists. Both Ferraro and Murray were named to the NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch List last week. CCM Hockey is the official equipment provider of the USHL.

Goaltender: Matthew Murray – Fargo Force (2-0-0-0, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 SV%)

Murray recorded a pair of shutouts over the weekend to help Fargo vault into third place in the Western Conference standings. He stopped all 33 shots he faced at Omaha on Friday before turning aside all 29 shots that came his way at Waterloo on Saturday. The University of Massachusetts commit leads the league with four shutouts on the season and currently sports a 9-5-0-0 record. He was also named to the NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch List last week. Hailing from St. Albert, AB, Murray was undrafted in the USHL. He previously played for the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL), St. Albert Raiders (AMHL) and St. Albert Sabres (AMBHL).
