The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce that 20 year old defenceman Drew McLaughlin (Sherwood Park, AB) has committed to attend and play for the Queen’s University Gaels who play in the Ontario University Athletics Conference (OUA) of the C.I.S. (Canadian Interuniversity Sports) for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.
Drew just completed his 2nd season with the Oil Barons. He has been a huge asset to the organization since he was acquired from the Amherst Ramblers before the start of the 2010-2011 season. In 103 games he has scored 5 goals and 21 assists.
While being a solid, shut down, physical defenceman, Drew’s greatest attributes are his leadership, commitment, and dedication. He is a vocal leader and someone the coaching staff has counted on to set a good example for all his teammates to follow both on and off the ice.
The Oil Barons organization would like to congratulate Drew and his family and wish him all the best in his future endeavours both academically and athletically.
