The Whitecourt Wolverines are pleased to announce that Michael Claffey has committed to play for the Augustana Vikings of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.
Claffey finished his junior career as an important member of the Whitecourt Wolverines defense in their quest for an AJHL title. The Spruce Grove, Alberta native also played for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League during his junior career. Claffey collected 13 points in 25 games for the Wolverines last season.
“Michael was an important addition to our club this season and was a huge part of our success late in the year and in the playoffs. His proven track record was evident during our playoff run. He is a very mature young man that provided leadership and earned the respect from his teammates on and off the ice. In addition, Michael proved to be a very unselfish individual that sacrificed himself for the team. Michael is a gifted offensive player that played in all key situations,” said Wolverines General Manager/Head Coach Joey Bouchard.
The Whitecourt Wolverines would like to congratulate Michael and his family on his accomplishment and wish him all the best in his future athletic and academic endeavours.
