Millan Named Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week

After helping the Boston University men’s ice hockey team earn three points in a weekend series at Maine, junior goaltender Kieran Millan has been named the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

The Terriers moved up to 14th in both national polls following their successful weekend, which included a 4-3 comeback victory over the Black Bears on Friday. The two teams battled to a 1-1 overtime draw on Saturday. For the second time this season, Hockey East named BU its Team of the Week following the impressive effort in Maine.

After giving up a goal on the first shift of Saturday’s contest, Millan stopped each of the 41 shots he faced the rest of the way to lead BU to the draw. On Friday, Millan recorded 34 saves to allow the Terriers to recover from a 3-1 deficit and earn the 4-3 triumph.

Over his past eight starts, Millan has posted a .938 save percentage and a 2.23 goals-against average to go along with 4-2-2 record.
