MOB Seek Support from AJHL Teams for Corvette Raffle

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are asking for help from the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and its teams to raise awareness of the team’s 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray raffle. To help, the Oil Barons have asked all AJHL teams to post information about the raffle to their team sites and social media accounts, and make tickets available for purchase at their team offices or at upcoming events.

“On behalf of the Oil Barons, I’d like to thank the AJHL and all of the teams that have reached out to us and have raised money for our community,” said Oil Barons and Northern Alberta Athletic Association (NAAA) President David Fitzgerald.

Due the wildfires and mandatory evacuation of Fort McMurray last month, ticket sales for the raffle have stalled. Like other Junior A teams in the AJHL and across Canada, the MOB are a non-profit organization that rely on corporate sponsorships and fundraisers to meet travel and operating costs during the season.

“The hockey community is close-knit, where everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand when someone is in a time of need,” added Fitzgerald. “We truly appreciate the level of support we’ve received from Junior A teams across Canada and are thankful to be part of such a great league.”

Tickets are $50 each or three for $100, with a total of 5, 900 tickets printed for the raffle.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, July 29 at midnight, with the draw taking place in Fort McMurray at the Casman Centre on Sunday, July 31. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Oil Barons’ office at 780-743-5509. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
