The Alberta Junior Hockey League playoff matchups are set.
And the Calgary Mustangs, who finished sixth in the South Division (26-28-6), will get the honour of kicking off the 2014 post-season on Wednesday when they visit the No. 3 Drumheller Dragons (7 p.m., Drumheller Memorial) for Game 1 of a best-of-five series.
Game 2 is Thursday with the Mustangs set to host Game 3 on Sunday, March 9 (3 p.m., Father David Bauer) and Game 4 on March 10 (7 p.m., if necessary). Although, they’re the lower seed, the ’Stangs won the season series, taking four of six games against the Dragons this year and outscoring them 27-21.
The Okotoks Oilers, who landed the No. 2 seed in the South (36-19-5), will host the No. 7 Olds Grizzlys, with Game 1 set for Thursday (7 p.m., Pason Centennial). Game 2 will go Friday (7 p.m.) before the series shifts to Olds Sunday and Monday. The Oilers have dominated matches between the teams this season, winning five of six and outscoring the Grizzlys 28-18.
