New Canucks Assistant Coach, First College Commitment

â??The Calgary Canucks are pleased to announce that Blake Cosgrove has been named an Assistant Coach of the team effective immediately.  He joins Head Coach Ryan Barrett and General Manager Chad Shiel in the Hockey Operations department.

“I’m extremely excited to be here,” Cosgrove said on the first day of the Canucks main training camp while watching potential players in a scrimmage.  “I want this program to grow for the players and get the best Calgary players to want to play here.”

A former Junior, College and Professional player in his own right, Cosgrove wants to share his experiences with the upcoming crop of Canucks players.  “I want to help develop young men.  It’s our job job to build the players into the group we want so that we can be in position to hit the playoffs firing on all cylinders.”

MITCH AMATTO COMMITS TO NATIONAL CHAMPIONS ST. NORBERT COLLEGE

The Canucks are very pleased to announce the first college commitment of the season. Mitch Amatto (1994-F) has committed to St. Norbert College (Div. III) in Green Bay, WI for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.  The Green Knights have won three of the past four Division III national championships including last season’s.

“We’re very proud that Mitch was able to make the leap and we wish him the very best,” said Canucks Head Coach Ryan Barrett.

TRAINING CAMP CONTINUES

The Calgary Canucks main training camp continues on Tuesday and will lead to the traditional Blue and White game on Friday where the 46 best players will play head-to-head.  Media are invited to attend the camp and interviews can be arranged through the Public Relations Director
