Fort McMurray, AB (May 17, 2019) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce that Dave Dupas will serve as the team’s next Head Coach and General Manager.
“I’m extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to help lead this organization as it’s next Head Coach and General Manager,” said Dupas. “Before coming to Fort McMurray, I knew the Oil Barons were a first-class organization and one of the most respected Junior A programs in Western Canada.”
“It’s an organization that’s always competitive and strives to move players on to the next level,” added Dupas. “Fort McMurray and the Oil Barons organization has been very welcoming to me and my family over the past four years. I look forward to continuing the winning culture here next season.”
In total, Dupas brings over 15 years of Junior A coaching experience to the role. Before joining the Oil Barons in 2015, Dupas served as the Head Coach of the BCHL’s Prince George Spruce Kings. Before embarking on his coaching career, Dupas also played junior hockey in BC and later professional hockey in California during the 1990s.
“We’re extremely excited to name Dave as our next Head Coach and General Manager,” said Oil Barons President David Fitzgerald.
“Over the past four years, our organization has become very familiar with Dave and his coaching style. He’s also played a key role in our player recruitment efforts and has a strong network within Western Canada’s Midget programs. As an organization, we are confident that Dave will continue to build on the strong history the Oil Barons have established in junior hockey and in our community.”
