Oil Barons Shutout Bobcats in Game 7 to Advance to North Final

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons would not let home ice advantage slip away from them as they defeated the Lloydminster Bobcats 2-0 in game seven on Wednesday night.

The Oil Barons would get the early momentum thanks to a hit by Taylor Lileikis on Bobcats forward Troy Rapuano.

Shortly after that Louis Joseph Sawyer flipped the puck down the ice and Kevin Miller was able to catch up and sneak a shot behind Bobcats goaltender Christopher Tai at 3:16 of the opening period.

That would be the only goal of the opening period.

Fort McMurray outshot Lloydminster 10-7 in the first.

The Bobcats would get the majority of the pressure in the second period, but neither team was able to score and it would remain 1-0 Oil Barons after two periods.

Shots were even in the second period 6-6, 16-13 Oil Barons after two.

In the third the Oil Barons would survive some early pressure from the Bobcats.

Then Bobcats goaltender Christopher Tai misplayed the puck and that allowed Adam Durkee to make it 2-0 Oil Barons at 5:59 of the third period.

The Bobcats would up turn up the pressure but were unable to beat Oil Barons goaltender Tanner Jaillet.
Bobcats outshot the Oil Barons 11-6 in the third period.

Bobcats goaltender Christopher Tai made 23 saves in the loss.

Oil Barons goaltender Tanner Jaillet stopped all 25 shots.

The Oil Barons will meet the Spruce Grove Saints in the North division final.
