The Okotoks Oilers are very pleased to announce that team captain Tanner Ockey has committed to Colorado College. Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the ‘Tigers’ compete in the NCAA Division I NCHC.
“I am very honored and excited to be joining the Colorado College Tigers program,” states Tanner Ockey. “I would like to thank all who helped me achieve my dream including my family, teammates, trainers, Okotoks Oilers staff and many more. I would not have been able to achieve my dream without these wonderful people.”
Ockey, a 19-year old forward from Calgary, AB is in his third season with the Okotoks Oilers and is currently having his best season as an Oiler with 9 goals and 24 points in 40 games played.
Tanner Ockey is the 5th player on the 2014-2015 Oilers committed to a NCAA D1 post-secondary hockey program joining Rhett Gardner (North Dakota), Ambrose Firkus (Alaska Fairbanks) and Phelan Shaw (Minnesota Duluth) and Nic Renyard (UMass).
Oilers Head Coach / GM James Poole states, “We are extremely happy for Tanner as his hard work and dedication have helped him achieve a major personal goal. Tanner epitomizes everything we want our players to represent on the ice, at the rink and in the community. Tanner is an outstanding young man and hockey player that will have an extremely positive influence helping the Tigers create a successful culture moving forward in the newly formed NCHC.”
The entire Oilers organization would like to congratulate Tanner and his family on this achievement and also look forward to Tanners continued contribution to making the Oilers 10th anniversary season the best season in the Oilers history.
