OKOTOKS, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) will feature more games on the radio in a single season than ever before in franchise history, the team announced today, unveiling its 2021-22 broadcast schedule in concert with Golden West Broadcasting’s flagship station The Eagle 100.9.
The station will feature nearly every road game the team will play in the regular season, totalling 28 broadcasts over the course of the campaign.
“We’re delighted to be able to keep fans connected with our team more than ever before,” said Tyler King, Oilers Assistant General Manager, Business Operations. “We’re especially happy to know that anytime our team is on the road, fans back in Okotoks will be able to cheer them on and know the up-to-the-second state of every game.”
“100.9 The Eagle and Okotoks Online are excited to be providing listeners with the broadcast of this year’s Okotoks Oilers away schedule,” said station General Manager Scott Lunn. “Local radio is the voice of the community, and the Oilers are huge part of our community. Hockey is Canadian, the Oilers are Okotoks and we at 100.9 The Eagle are proud to be a broadcast partner.”
The Eagle has already provided coverage of every away game the Oilers have played this season starting with the AJHL Showcase in Brooks, with veteran broadcaster Gino De Paoli returning for his tenth season of play-by-play for the squad. As a new feature this year, the Eagle’s broadcasts will also provide the audio backing for video highlights of all road games that the team will be posting online this season.
Games can be heard on 100.9 FM, or over the internet at OkotoksOnline.com, with pre-game coverage beginning 15 minutes before each game. All remaining road games will be broadcast except for the team’s Thursday, January 20th noon-time game in Camrose.
Playoff game coverage beginning in March will be finalized at a later date.
