Oilers’ brass ready for Christmas shopping

As the leafs changing colours signals the start of hockey season, for Canadian Junior Hockey League scouts and general managers the Mac’s Midget AAA hockey tournament denotes the stretch drive of the recruitment process.

“I’d probably say the recruiting period really kicks into gear when the Mac’s starts,” said Oilers head coach and general manager James Poole. “In terms of the BCHL, AJHL, SJHL almost every team will be in attendance at the Mac’s and really looking at the players in that tournament to get a grasp on who the best Midget players are in Western Canada.”
