Oilers Doane Commits to University of Wisconsin-Stout

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that 20-year old forward Stephen Doane has committed to play for the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils in the fall of 2015.  UW-Stout is located in Menomonie, Wisconsin and plays in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).

Stephen was acquired by the Oilers in the summer of 2014 after spending his first 2 AJHL seasons with the Drumheller Dragons and Grande Prairie Storm.  In Stephen’s junior career he has currently recorded 39 goals and 84 points in 148 regular season games played.

“We would like to congratulate Stephen and his family on committing to UW-Stout Blue Devils,” states Head Coach James Poole.  “Stephen has had a positive influence in his final junior season with the Oilers bringing a gritty, skilled style of play that has fit with the Oiler identity.   With Stephen now playing his best hockey of the season and committed to his post-secondary plans, we look forward to his continued contributions in helping the Oilers achieve playoff success in their 10th anniversary season.”

Stephen is the 6th player from the 2014-2015 Oilers committed to an NCAA post-secondary hockey program.
