Eleven days after trading their captain and leading scorer the Okotoks Oilers have given the leadership mantle to a 20-year-old centre with just eight games experience with the organization.
Bacon, a Calgary native, missed 27 games this season after suffering a broken leg in a tilt with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, but has shown leadership from the beginning of the season whether he was in the corners digging out a puck or cheering his teammates from the press box. Bacon said his commitment to the team during his recovery from injury contributed to the club’s decision to honour him with the captaincy.
