Okotoks Mayor Has Friendly Bets Over Oilers’ Success

Okotoks Mayor Bill Robertson has more riding on the Okotoks Oilers – Brooks Bandits AJHL South Division final series than just Town bragging rights.

Robertson has had a friendly bet with the Mayor's of each of the Oilers' playoff series opponents this year, and again has a wager on the current Oilers/Bandits match up.

The bet has the losing mayor wearing the winning team's jersey during a council meeting, and donating $100 to the winning town's food bank.

So far Olds Mayor Judy Dahl and Camrose Mayor Marshall Chalmers will have to don Oilers' threads for their series wins over the Grizzlys and Kodiaks.

“(An Oilers) jersey will be couriered to each of the Town's offices, and then a picture of the mayor's wearing the jersey in a council meeting will be emailed out to each municipality in Alberta,” Robertson said.

The same bet applies between Robertson and Brooks Mayor Martin Shields.
