The Olds Grizzlys are pleased to announce that Captain Jack Goranson has accepted an offer to play for the York University Lions.
“We are extremely excited for Jack and his family to have the opportunity to move on to a great University in York, as well to continue to play hockey at the highest level in the CIS,” stated Grizzlys Head Coach Dana Lattery.
Jack just got back from a visit to York University and was very excited about this opportunity, “It was awesome, the coach was very down to earth and the guys were awesome. Good group and good academics too, so everything I am looking for really. I am very excited to start the next chapter of my life at York. They have a great team and I look forward to contributing any way I can help them win a CIS title.”
“All of this wouldn't have been possible without the help of the Olds Grizzlys, my teammates, my family, and many other mentors along the way.”
Jack played three seasons with the Olds Grizzlys, finishing his 20 year old year as the team's Captain. Coach Lattery stated,“Jack is a phenomenal D-man who loves to skate the puck. Jack's size and power is one of his greater assets. He thinks the game very well, and is extremely intelligent out on the ice. Jack's leadership will be greatly missed next season, but he has mentored the young kids on our team very well, that I am sure a piece of him will still be here with this young group of kids as he heads to York next year. We wish Jack all the best next season as he is just getting started in the hockey world!”
