Pair of Bobcats Commit to Colorado College

The Jr. A Bobcats are excited to announce that defencemen Alex Pernitsky and Cole Josefchak have both committed to play for the Colorado College Tigers NCAA Division I Hockey Program of the National Collegiate Hockey Division.

The commitments will see the defencemen gain valuable championship experience with the Bobcats in the team’s 2015-16 RBC Cup National Championship hosting season before departing to Colorado for 2016-17 to further their athletic and academic careers.

Pernitsky is a ’96 born right-handed shot, originally hailing from Unity, Saskatchewan just one hour South of Lloydminster. The local puck-moving defenceman enjoyed a strong rookie season with the Bobcats in which he totalled 5 goals and 7 assists for 12 points in 52 regular season games while gaining more and more ice time as the season progressed.

Josefchak is a ’97 Calgary, Alberta product who was able to make the Bobcats roster in 2014-15 as a 17 year old defenceman still eligible for midget. Also a right-handed shot, Josefchak built up a reputation as a strong and reliable shut-down defenceman, and collected 1 goal and 8 assists for 9 points in 52 regular season games.

“We would like to congratulate Alex and Cole on their commitments to Colorado College,” said Bobcats Coach Gord Thibodeau.  “Both players had strong rookie seasons and both will be expected to play big roles in the upcoming RBC Cup season.”

The pair of commitments means the Bobcats now have 5 players from the team’s 2014-15 roster committed to NCAA Division I scholarships. Pernitsky & Josefchak join forwards Kevin Darrar (Holy Cross) and Troy Van Tetering (Alaska-Fairbanks), and fellow defenceman Shane Switzer (Boston University) on the list of hockey players furthering their careers through the Jr. ‘A’ Bobcats and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
