Papaioannou Signs 5 Year Contract Extension

The Brooks Bandits announce the long term extension of Head Coach/General Manager Ryan Papaioannou’s contract to the end of the 2016 – 2017 season.

Ryan has been with the Bandits since 2008 when he worked as an Assistant Coach with the hockey club. The Calgary product became the Interim Head Coach/General Manager on October 16th, 2009 and followed that by being named the 7th Head Coach/General Manager on November 5th 2009. Since then Papaioannou has compiled a record or 101 – 49 – 16.

The Board of Directors is pleased to offer Ryan a long-term contract that will enable him to continue to “Strive for Excellence”. Over the past two seasons Ryan has expanded scouting staff, secured more scholarships and assisted in enhancing our education programs. His youth, contemporary style, commitment and judgment are some of the qualities that have enabled him to assemble teams of young men that are competitive, tight-knit and great ambassadors for Brooks and area. With this agreement in place, the organisation can now focus fully on continued self-improvement that will be necessary in the quest to provide Ryan with the means to repeatedly field a team of calibre.
