The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is AJHL leading scorer Jack Plandowski. The Calgary Canucks forward had two three-point games and recorded six points (2G, 4A) in two victories to start 2025.
Plandowski (2005) scored a goal and two assists on January 4th with a 6-3 win over the visiting Bonnyville Pontiacs. On January 5th, he extended his four-game point streak with a goal and two assists in a 6-3 victory versus the Drumheller Dragons in front of 1,300 fans at the Ken Bracko Arena in Calgary. Jack was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game.
The third -year AJHL veteran leads the AJHL with 50 points (23G, 27A) in 31 games played. This is Plandowski’s second Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week award (September 30th-October 6th, 2024).
Calgary Canucks forward Nolan DuPont is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week with five points (2G, 3A) in two games last week. The 2006-born rookie had two multi-point performances from December 30th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025 and earned a Viterra AJHL Player of the Game selection.
DuPont scored two goals and an assist for his hometown Canucks on January 3rd vs Bonnyville and added two assists in the January 5th win over Drumheller. Nolan is second in AJHL Rookie Scoring with 36 points (12G, 24A) in 30 games played. This is the second Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week award for DuPont (November 18th-24th, 2024).
The Calgary Canucks are tied for first place in the Viterra AJHL South Division and have compiled a five-game win streak.
The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Tristan Taylor of the Olds Grizzlys. The 2004-born defenceman and alternate captain recorded three assists and led the Grizzlys to back to back wins.
On January 3rd, Taylor recorded three assists in a 5-4 shootout win on home ice versus the Bonnyville Pontiacs. Taylor and the Grizzlys defensive group held the Devon Xtreme to one goal against the following night and recorded another shootout win in a 2-1 final.
The Olds Grizzlys are the only team in the AJHL yet to lose in extra time and have posted seven wins in the combined categories of overtime and shootouts.
