Pontiacs Assistant GM Moving Forward

When the 2012-13 hockey season begins there will be a new face behind the Bonnyville Pontiacs bench. For the last five seasons Associate Coach Ryan Pollock has been an ambassador for the Pontiacs organization. Pollock joined the club in August of 2007 after the team had lost in the first round following a 24 win regular season. In Pollock’s first two years helping behind the bench the Pontiacs improved their win total and built on a tradition of a team that works hard on the ice and in the community. The reputation for hard work continued for the team and for Pollock who, as one of the only full time, assistant coaches in the Alberta Junior Hockey League would see his list of duties expand over the years. His responsibilities included running practices, breaking down video, facilitating school requirements for the players and working with corporate sponsors.

“I would like to thank the Pontiacs organization for welcoming me into their family five years ago and the town of Bonnyville for the support you have shown the team,” said Pollock. “Working with a talented coach in Chad Mercier since 2007 has increased my own knowledge of coaching and for that I am grateful.”

The Pontiacs organization would like to thank Ryan for his dedication in moving the club forward. Pollock has proven the value in having a full time assistant coach on staff and will begin the search for a replacement immediately.
