Brooks Bandits forward Randy Hernández is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for December 2019. Hernández closed out 2019 on an 11-game point streak and leads the AJHL Scoring Race with 71 points (32G, 39A).
Through nine games in December, Hernández recorded 25 points (13G, 12A), including three game winning goals for a total of six on the season. He accumulated eight multi-point games in the month, with two 4-point performances on December 7th vs Olds and December 14th vs Whitecourt. Randy recorded his first AJHL hat trick on December 6th in a 4-2 win over Drumheller.
The 20 year-old was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game four times in December, bringing his season total to ten.
This is the second Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month award for Hernández after first capturing it in October 2019. He was also selected as the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for the period of December 16th-22nd, which was his third weekly honour in 2019-2020.
Hernández, 20, is in his second season with the Bandits and is committed to Robert Morris University (NCAA Division I).
The Alberta Junior Hockey League is pleased to partner with the Alberta Ford Dealers Association and will recognize the AJHL Player of the Month throughout the regular season. The AJHL and Ford also partner on the Alberta Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the Week.
