Riley Morris Commits to Mount Royal University Cougars

Okotoks, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that 1997 born goaltender Riley Morris (Calgary, AB) has committed to the Mount Royal University Cougars.

Located in Calgary, Alberta the Cougars play in the U-Sports Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CW) Conference under 3rd year Head Coach Bert Gilling.  In their six years in U-Sports, the Cougars have advanced to the Canada West semi-finals three times.

Morris, 21, concludes an astounding four year AJHL career all in an Oiler uniform where he has broken several goaltending records.

In the 2017-18 AJHL season, Morris had a record of 31-2-2 with a goals against average of 1.98 and a save percentage of .922, with four shutouts and five assists, which earned him the league’s Top Goaltender Award and was also named the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Goalie of the Year. The Calgary native had a 9-6 record with a 2.18 goals against average and a .918 save percentage in the 2018 Inter Pipeline Cup Playoffs where he helped lead the Oilers to their first South Division crown and appearance in the AJHL Championship.

Morris’ career line with the green and gold stands at 141 games played with a win/loss record of 88-38-9 with a 2.51 GAA and .913 save percentage, with 10 shutouts and six assists.

In his senior season Morris entered the franchise record books with the following milestones:

Morris’ accolades carried with him since his sophomore season in the league where he was nominated as the league’s top goaltender for two straight season before winning in 2017-18.
