Round Three Playoff Recap

The Camrose Kodiaks are the 2011 AJHL South Division Champions. The Kodiaks will now meet the North Division Champion Spruce Grove Saints in the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Final.

The Camrose Kodiaks defeated the Okotoks Oilers 3-2 in Game Seven of the South Division Final on Tuesday night in Okotoks. The Kodiaks trailed 3-1in the series before winning three consecutive games to capture the title and upset the Oilers.

Goaltender Dalyn Flette faced 38 shots in the Kodiaks net. The Oilers opened the scoring, followed by three consecutive goals from the Kodiaks, including the game winner from Jonathan Lashyn.

A full schedule of the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Final will be announced on the AJHL website on March 30th. The best-of-seven series will begin in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

The winner of the 2011 AJHL South Division Title will be decided in Game Seven on Tuesday night. The Camrose Kodiaks thrilled the hometown crowd with a 3-1 win tonight to tie the best-of-seven series 3-3. The Kodiaks have rallied back from a 3-1 series deficit with two consecutive wins.

The Okotoks Oilers struck first tonight, but three unanswered goals by the Kodiaks would follow and secure the win. John Lidgett scored the game winning goal for the second consecutive game. Lidgett has recorded three game winning goals in the 2011 AJHL Playoffs. Lidgett scored twice in tonight’s victory and was awarded the Player of the Game Honour for the Kodiaks.

Tyler Jewitt of the Camrose Kodiaks leads the AJHL Scoring Race with 16 points in the post-season. Goaltenders Dalyn Flette (Camrose) and Michael Tadjdeh (Okotoks) boast a 1.93 GAA and 1.95 GAA respectively, second only to Vincenzo Marozzi of the Spruce Grove Saints with a .95 GAA.

The Kodiaks won Game Seven in the South Division Semi-Final against the Brooks Bandits to advance to the Division Final versus the Oilers. The South Division Champion will face off against the Spruce Grove Saints in the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Final. The Saints eliminated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons to claim the North Division title.

The Camrose Kodiaks tightened the best-of-seven series against the Okotoks Oilers with a 2-1 overtime victory tonight. The Oilers lead the South Division Final 3-2, with Game Six set for Sunday night in Camrose.

Goaltenders Dalyn Flette and Michael Tadjdeh were selected as the Player of the Game for their respective teams. The Kodiaks posted 46 shots on Tadjdeh, while the Oilers returned the fire with 42 shots on the net of Dalyn Flette. John Lidgett scored the game winner with an unassisted goal 9:12 into overtime. The goal was Lidgett’s second game winning goal in the 2011 AJHL Playoffs; the first game winning goal captured Game Seven in Round Two versus the Brooks Bandits.

The South Division Champion will face off against the Spruce Grove Saints in the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Final. The Saints eliminated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons to claim the North Division title.

The Spruce Grove Saints have captured the North Division Title in the 2011 AJHL Playoffs and will now advance to the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Final. The Saints will face the South Division Champion in a battle for the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup.

This will be the third consecutive League Final appearance for the Saints. The Saints are the defending AJHL Enerflex Cup Champions. The Spruce Grove Saints also captured the 2010-2011 Dave Duchak Trophy as the AJHL Regular Season Champions for the third consecutive season.

The Saints defeated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons 2-0 tonight to win the series 4-0 and advance to the League Final. Tonight’s game in Fort McMurray was a scoreless affair until 7:51 into the third period when Dustin Fostvelt scored the eventual game winning goal. Scott Allen added the insurance goal. Allen led the Saints with 6 points in the series and recorded a point in each game. The Saints are undefeated in the 2011 AJHL Playoffs.

Goaltender Vincenzo Marozzi recorded the shutout for the Saints. He is 8-0 in the post-season and leads all AJHL goaltenders with a .95 GAA. Marozzi has tied his personal record of 9 shutouts, and is second in the League Record Book for Most Shutouts, One Season, Including Playoffs.

By securing 1st place in the North Division during the regular season, the Saints earned a first round bye in the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Playoffs. The Saints then went on to sweep the Lloydminster Bobcats and Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

The Okotoks Oilers took a 3-1 series lead over the Camrose Kodiaks tonight in the South Division Final. Colten Hayes had a 2 point game for the Oilers and Nolan Huysmans scored the game winner on the Oilers powerplay. Huysmans has scored three goals in the 2011 post-season, each goal has been a game winner. Goaltender Michael Tadjdeh posted the win for Okotoks and now boasts a 7-1 record with a 1.85GAA.

Game Five in the South Division Final will be played on Friday night in Okotoks. The South Division Champion will face the North Division Champion for the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup.

The Spruce Grove Saints remain undefeated in the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup Playoffs after posting a seventh consecutive post-season victory on Tuesday night. The Saints defeated the Oil Barons 2-1 in Fort McMurray to take a 3-0 series lead in the best-of-seven North Division Final.

Goaltender Vincenzo Marozzi is now 7-0 in the post-season and leads all AJHL goaltenders with a 1.11GAA. Felix-Antoine Poulin scored the game winning goal for the Saints. The Saints have a chance to end the series in Game Four on Wednesday night in Fort McMurray. If necessary, Game Five will be played back in Spruce Grove on Friday night.

In the South Division Final, the Okotoks Oilers took a 2-1 series lead with a road win in Camrose tonight. The Oilers defeated the Camrose Kodiaks 5-3. Goaltender Michael Tadjdeh posted the win for Okotoks and improves his record to 6-1 with a 1.97GAA. Kyle Reynolds was selected as Player of the Game for the Oilers as he tallied a 3 point night, and now moves into 3rd spot overall in the AJHL Scoring Race with 12 post-season points. Reynolds was the 2010-11 AJHL Regular Season Scoring Champion. Alex Kromm and Connor Collett recorded 2 points for the Oilers while Cole Wilson and Nolan Marshall recorded 2 points apiece for Camrose.

Game Four in the South Division Final will go on Wednesday night in Camrose, followed by Game Five on Friday night in Okotoks.

The Spruce Grove Saints took a 2-0 series lead over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons with a convincing 8-1 victory on Sunday night in Spruce Grove. Goaltender Vincenzo Marozzi recorded the win and is 6-0 in the post-season with a 1.13GAA. Josh Keizer scored twice for the Saints and Michael Claffey had a 3 point night. The Saints capitalized on their opportunities and went 4 for 5 on the powerplay. The series will switch to Fort McMurray for Game Three and Game Four on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Okotoks Oilers suffered their first loss of the post-season in an overtime battle with the Camrose Kodiaks. The Kodiaks defeated the Oilers 3-2 in Okotoks on Sunday to tie the series 1-1. Tyler Jewitt scored the game winning goal for the Kodiaks at 6:38 of the 1st overtime period. Jewitt is tied for top spot in the AJHL Scoring Race with 15 points in the post-season. Tyler Jewitt and John Lidgett each scored 2 points (1G, 1A) in tonight’s victory. Camrose killed off 12 of the 13 powerplay opportunities for the Oilers. Game Three and Four of the series will be played in Camrose on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The top ranked team in each division won Game One in tonight’s AJHL Semi-Finals. The regular season champion Spruce Grove Saints won 5-3 over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in the North Division Final and the Okotoks Oilers defeated the Camrose Kodiaks 3-1 in the South Division Final. The best-of-seven series resume with Game Two in both divisions on Sunday.

The North Division Final between the Saints and Oil Barons is a rematch of the 2010 AJHL Final, which the Saints won in Game Seven. The Oil Barons held the lead in Spruce Grove tonight until the halfway mark of the second period. The Saints scored three unanswered goals in the third period to take a 1-0 series lead with a 5-3 victory. Josh Lee, Colton Yaremovich and Ben Lake each scored 2 points for the Oil Barons. Matt Knoll, Josh Koper and Scott Allen posted 2 points apiece for the Saints. Goaltender Vincenzo Marozzi recorded the win for the Saints and is now 5-0 in the post-season with a 1.29GAA.

The Oilers put up 40 shots on goal tonight in Okotoks to capture the win over Camrose. Nolan Huysmans scored the game winning goal for the Oilers and Jonathan Turk scored an unassisted goal with less than a minute remaining in the game to guarantee the win for the home team. Michael Tadjdeh was in the Oilers net and is 5-0 with a 1.60GAA in the 2011 AJHL Playoffs.
