Ryan Bartoshyk Named Commissioner of Alberta Junior Hockey League

The Alberta Junior Hockey League is proud to announce the appointment of Ryan Bartoshyk as the new League Commissioner.  Bartoshyk has served as the Vice President of Marketing for the AJHL since 2006 and now becomes the 15th Commissioner of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in its 50 year history.

“It is with immense pride and humility that I enter into this new chapter of my life as Commissioner of the Alberta Junior Hockey League”, stated Ryan Bartoshyk.  “I would like to thank the AJHL Board of Governors for showing confidence in my abilities and selecting me for this position.  I intend to build off of the momentum the League has achieved over the past six seasons.”

“It is my objective for the AJHL to be the best Junior ‘A’ League in Canada.  As a League we need to challenge the status quo in the spirit of continuous improvement and define and measure success as a League.”

The AJHL has also introduced a new Executive structure, which will include the addition of a Vice-President, Hockey Operations.  This important new position will be a significant asset to the league’s administration and will allow the AJHL to best serve its teams and players.

“I look forward to providing leadership to the new AJHL staffing structure and creating a culture of engagement and accountability while establishing a standard of professionalism and teamwork,” added AJHL Commissioner Ryan Bartoshyk.

“Our League is driven by people and I respect all of those involved in our game. Volunteers, billets, officials, family and team staff are all integral to our league and provide our athletes with the opportunity to develop and mature within a safe environment.”

“It is my intention to pursue honest and open discussions with all of our stakeholders to ensure we ask the right questions and shape a strategy to make certain we evolve with the dynamic nature of the game and ensure the viability of the league for the next fifty years.”

As the Vice-President of Marketing, Ryan Bartoshyk successfully managed the AJHL marketing portfolio for seven years and was responsible for significant increases in sponsorship and heightened brand awareness.  Bartoshyk earned an undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics and a master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of Ottawa.  Bartoshyk is an alumnus of the Bonnyville Pontiacs (1998-2000) and is a native of Camrose, Alberta.  Ryan and his wife, Michelle, now reside in the AJHL community of Okotoks, AB.
