Simpson Commits to Arizona State University

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 3rd year forward Riley Simpson has committed to play for the Arizona State Sun Devils, a NCAA Independent Division I program.   Arizona State is located in Tempe Arizona. The Sun Devils will play their first season as a Division I program next season.

Riley joined the Saints from the South Side Athletic Club in the AMHL.  In his career with the Saints, Riley has played in 147 regular season games, amassing 47 Goals, 62 Assists for 109 Points, while totalling 46 PIMs.   In the playoffs, Riley has added 41 additional games to his resume, while scoring 8 Goals, 17 Assists for 25 Points and 12 PIMs.

“Riley has shown tremendous improvement over the last three years in Spruce Grove.  The biggest thing about Riley’s game is his hockey IQ.  It will allow him to continue to progress and show success in his hockey career at the collegiate level,” states Coach Jason McKee. “Riley does a very good job of consistently doing the little things right all the time, and I think that allows Riley to separate himself away from other players in our league.”

“I am very excited to be joining Arizona State University to pursue academics and hockey.  I would like thank Coach Jason McKee and the Spruce Grove Saints organization for everything they have done for me as a player and person over the last three years,” says Simpson. “I'd also like to thank my friends and family for their continued support, as I continue my academics through hockey.”

The Saints organization would like to congratulate Riley and his family on this step in his career and wish him continued success moving forward both athletically and academically.

Riley is the 7th Saint player to committed to post secondary this season:

• Brandon Biro (Penn State University)
• Connor James (University of Alabama-Huntsville)
• Tyler Busch (Arizona State University)
