STEINKE, JONES AND MALONEY SELECTED AS AJHL WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS

Lloydminster Bobcats forward Caden Steinke is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week with a league leading six points (2G, 4A) in two victories last week.

Steinke (Calgary, AB) was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game with two goals and two assists in a 7-2 win over the Bonnyville Pontiacs on January 24th. The Bobcats swept the home and home series versus the Pontiacs with a 7-4 win on January 25th and another two assists for Steinke.

Since returning from injury in mid-December, Steinke has 14 points (7G, 7A) in 12 games played.  The 20 year-old forward is in his fourth and final AJHL season.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Grande Prairie Storm goaltender Nicholas Jones with a 2-0 record from January 20th-26th, 2025 and his third shutout of the season.

Jones (Calgary, AB) has won his last three starts including a 5-1 victory over the Bonnyville Pontiacs on January 21st and a 3-0 shutout over the Oil Barons in Fort McMurray on January 22nd.  Through the two games, Jones made 56 saves on 57 shots, recording a .982 save percentage and .5 GAA.

Jones (2004) is in his second season with the Storm and ranks sixth in the AJHL in the categories of Save Percentage (.919%) and Goals Against Average (2.30 GAA).  The Grande Prairie Storm are second in the Viterra AJHL North Division at 22-11-1-2 (W-L-OTL-SOL).

Defenceman Nathan Maloney (Quinnipiac University) is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week with four points (1G, 3A) in two wins for the Calgary Canucks.

The 2006-born blueliner scored the lone goal in a 4-1 loss to the Whitecourt Wolverines on January 25th and was recognized as Viterra AJHL Player of the Game.  Maloney recorded a season-high three-point game with three assists in a 11-1 final versus the Devon Xtreme on January 26th.

Maloney (Strathmore, AB) is tied as the rookie defencemen scoring leader with 19 points (7G, 12A) and is a member of the Canucks league-leading penalty kill.  The Calgary Canucks are second in the Viterra AJHL South Division at 25-11-2-2 (W-L-OTL-SOL).
