The Grande Prairie Storm Jr 'A' Hockey Club has announced that Kevin Higo has been relieved of his duties as head coach and GM of the Hockey Team. Club President Murray Toews made the announcement today during a press conference.
Taking the helm for team will be Matt Keillor. Matt has served as an assistant coach with the Swan City Junior A hockey club for the past two seasons, as well as head coach of the Midget AAA GPAC. Keillor’s presence not only locally but at the provincial level has been instrumental in developing the local Midget “AAA” program.
We look forward to working with Matt and supporting him during his transition to head coach at the Junior A level. Matt brings a new level of energy to lead the team through the second half of the season as the Storm work toward a position in the post-season. The Storm has a record of 7-22-5 in the past 34 games and sits in 6th place in the Viterra AJHL North Division.
We would like to thank Kevin for his time with the Storm and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Keillor will make his first appearance behind the bench as head coach this weekend at Revolution Place. Please join us in welcoming Matt Keillor as the new head coach of the Grande Prairie Storm.
