The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to belatedly announce that defenseman Jordan Swenson has committed to Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) for the 2014-15 Season.
Swenson, a 93 born defenseman from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan played his entire junior career in an Oiler uniform playing in 138 regular season games registering 17 goals and 43 assists. In his 3-year career Swenson was the recipient of the team’s Rookie of the Year in 2012 and Top Defenseman in 2013.
Oilers Head Coach James Poole commented, “Jordan’s contribution over the three years was invaluable to our blue-line as he played large impact minutes in every situation. NAIT is getting a special player that can help the Ooks continue their tradition of success.”
Jordan will join a NAIT Ooks program that has won the ACAC Men’s Hockey Championship 14 times throughout its including the Ooks most recent title in 2012-13.
The Oilers would like to thank Jordan for his outstanding commitment to the Oiler organization for the past three years and wish him the best of luck in his future hockey and academic endeavors.
Swenson is the 10th Player from the Oilers 2013-14 team to commit to a post-secondary hockey program.
