The AJHL is mourning one of its own, as today it was confirmed that Olds Grizzlys and Brooks Bandits alumnus, Taylor Elliott, has passed away. The Alberta Junior Hockey League wishes to offer its sincere condolences to the family of Taylor Elliott.
Elliott had not been seen since Sunday, December 1st, when he left on foot from a rural residence, leaving no clues behind.
A massive backcountry search ensued involving countless volunteers, Mounties, conservation officers and search and rescue crews. What began as a five- mile search radius transformed into a cross province manhunt.
Elliott was known to have been an avid outdoorsman, often travelling into the backcountry to hunt. While he was equipped with survival skills, RCMP had expressed concern about the chance of his survival in snow and freezing temperatures.
