Tanner McCorriston Commits to Concordia University

Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines are proud to announce that 20-year-old goaltender Tanner McCorriston has committed to Concordia University of Edmonton (ACAC) beginning in the 2016/2017 season.

McCorriston joined the Whitecourt Wolverines in October of 2014 after being acquired in a trade from the Spruce Grove Saints.  He would go on to set Wolverine team records for career wins (36), career shutouts (2), wins in a season (24) and shutouts in a season (2).  McCorriston also holds the team record for most starts by a goaltender in a season and career.

Prior to making the jump from minor hockey to junior hockey, McCorriston was named the AMHL goaltender of the year in 2012/2013 while playing for the K of C Pats midget AAA program.

While his accomplishments on the ice were significant, McCorriston also made himself a large part of the community in Whitecourt off the ice in his two years.  During his spare time he mentored and coached several young goaltenders involved in Whitecourt Minor Hockey.

McCorriston will join former Whitecourt Wolverine defenceman and Whitecourt native Connor Dea as a member of the Concordia Thunder next season.  The Thunder are coached by Dan Glegloff.

The entire Whitecourt Wolverine organization would like to congratulate Tanner and his family on his selection of Concordia University of Edmonton for his college experience and wish him all the best in his academics and athletics.

In the last two years the Whitecourt Wolverines have sent 13 players onto collegiate careers at the CIS, ACAC and NCAA level.    Tanner is the 6th Wolverine on or previously on this year’s roster to earn a college commitment:

  • Taden Rattie – Western Michigan University
  • Joseph Nardi – Northern Michigan University
  • Justin Young – University of Alaska-Fairbanks
  • Brody Valette – Rochester Institute of Technology
  • Frederic Letourneau – Bowling Green State University
  • Tanner McCorriston – Concordia University of Edmonton
