Three Oilers Commit to Mount Royal University

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that Jeff Barrett, Mike Brown and Nick Bell have all committed to attend Mount Royal University, beginning in the 2011-2012 season. Mount Royal University Cougars has a proud tradition of 13 ACAC Hockey Championships, and will be transitioning into CIS Canada West in the near future.
Jeff Barrett, a 20-year old graduate forward from Calgary, spent the last three seasons with the Oilers, compiling 36 goals and 100 points in 125 regular season games.
“Jeff is a tremendous individual who is very dedicated to improving on a daily basis. The Cougars will be adding a player that will impact their program in a variety of ways,” stated Oilers Head Coach and General Manager James Poole
Mike Brown, a 20-year old graduate forward from Calgary, spent this season with the Oilers compiling 17 goals and 41 points in 41 games. Prior to the Oilers, Mike spent 3+ seasons in the WHL with the Swift Current and Tri City Americans.
“Mike was a welcome addition to our team and organization in October of 2010. Mike was given opportunity to play a different role than his previous seasons in the WHL and made the most of the opportunity to show what a well rounded player he is. The Cougars are very fortunate to have added such a quality player.”
Nick Bell, a 20-year old graduate defenseman from Innisfail, AB spent his 18-year old season & majority of his 20-year old season with the Oilers. In between his time with the Oilers, Nick played one season for the Red Deer Rebels. In 86 games for the Oilers, Nick recorded 16 goals and 58 points.
“Nick is an extremely talented defenseman who has game changing ability which will be a welcome addition for the Cougars at the ACAC & CIS levels.”
