Thunder Raise $23,000 for ‘Hockey with Heart & Stroke’

On January 20th 2012, the Drayton Valley Thunder not only took on the Sherwood Park Crusaders, they also took on the task of supporting Paula Maciborsky and son Chris in their quest of raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. In this match up against the Crusaders, the Drayton Valley Thunder wore special jerseys sponsored by Paula and Chris which were auctioned off during the game. At the end of the game, whoever had the highest bid got the jersey right off the player’s back and fans were informed that the amount raised would be announced at a later date.

On February 4th 2012, Paula Maciborsky, along with the Drayton Valley Thunder, presented a cheque in the amount of $23,735.25 to representatives of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Thunder Organization would like to thank all their fans who came out to not only support the team for this special game and throughout the season but also for the fans generosity in supporting such an important cause that touch so many lives. Drayton Valley Thunder fans, be proud of yourself — you have pulled together once again.
