Tomkins Commits to Ohio State Buckeyes

The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce that goaltender Matt Tomkins has committed to Ohio State Buckeyes for the 2013-14 season.

Matt just completed his first season with the Crusaders, he is a Sherwood Park resident, Kings club alumni and the Grade 12 student that is graduating in June. He is currently ranked 10th among North American goalies for the upcoming NHL Draft and has been invited to the NHL combine. Tomkins took part in the CJHL prospects game in November where he was a part of team west. Matt also was a finalist for the AJHL goalie of the year.

“Matt had a calming influence on our team this past season as he helped our team have a strong second half of the season and wanted team success first before any individual accolades ” says GM/Head Coach Tim Fragle. “He has huge potential, he’s big, positionally sound and he is really competitive” says Fragle.

The Crusaders organization are extremely excited for Matt and his family on his commitment to Ohio State. Tomkins will be back with the Crusaders this upcoming season and is striving to help take the team and his individual game to the next stage of its development.
