Trey deGraaf Commits to University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves

Okotoks, Alberta – The Okotoks Oilers Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is proud to announce that 20-year old forward Trey deGraaf (Red Deer, AB) has committed to the NCAA Division I University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves, members of WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) for the 2017-18 season.

deGraaf  played his minor hockey in Red Deer before joining the Okotoks Oilers in the 2014-15 season.  Over the past three seasons, Trey has played a total of 167 games as an Oiler, scoring 61 goals and 83 assists for a total of 144 points along with 24 career powerplay goals.

Oilers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Development Tyler Deis can’t say enough about deGraaf’s contributions to the hockey club.

“Trey was a great leader who was extremely well respected by both his peers and competitors.  The strength he brought to our dressing room each day will definitely be missed.” 

Trey was the recipient of the Top Plus / Minus, Top Goal Scorer, and Top Forward Awards for the 2016-17 Oilers Season, deGraaf is now third on the Oilers All-Time franchise scoring list.

The Oilers would like to wish both Trey and his family the best in his future academic and athletic endeavors. 

Trey deGraaf is the fourth Oiler to commit to a post-secondary institution during the 2016-17 season.  Trey will join teammates Jordan Xavier and Tanner Laderoute at Alaska Anchorage this fall, along with the commitment of teammate Jacob Bernard-Docker (University of North Dakota).
