Fran Gow couldn’t have picked a better time or place Saturday night to coach his 1,000th Alberta Junior Hockey League game.
Gow was in Calgary at the Max Bell Centre, where he won his first league championship with the 1997 Fort McMurray Oil Barons over the Calgary Canucks. The arena was also home to legendary Canucks coach Don Phelps, also a member of the 1,000-game club.
